BottleDrop for P.E.
One of the easiest ways to support the Abernethy Physical Education program (and the environment) is by recycling redeemable cans and bottles through the BottleDrop program.
Blue BottleDrop redemption bags are always available in the front office or gym office, and the PTA also delivers bags to your home! Simply submit a request on Konstella or email our BottleDrop coordinator with your address and the number of bags you'd like.
Fill the blue bag with your redeemable bottles and cans, and bring it to any BottleDrop site. Scan the sticker to unlock the door, drop in your bag, and you're done!
If your family, friends, or neighbors use green bags for a personal account, they may also donate to the Abernethy P.E. program with the simple click of a button.
As of February 2024, we have raised more than $4,400 for the Abernethy P.E. program through BottleDrop. Thank you, Abernethy Community!

Where are the nearest BottleDrop sites?
There are now several locations in our area:
New Seasons 7 Corners
Safeway Hawthorne - the BottleDrop door is just inside the parking garage entrance on SE 27th Ave.
Fred Meyer Hawthorne - the standalone redemption center in the parking lot includes two BottleDrop doors.
New Seasons Hawthorne
Trader Joe's SE
Whole Foods Laurelhurst
QFC Mt. Tabor
Other locations may be found on the BottleDrop website.
Do I need to wait in line?
Dropping off at most locations and times generally requires no wait, with the exception of Fred Meyer Hawthorne.
A drop off receptacle will sometimes be so full that it cannot accommodate another bag. On these unfortunate occasions, please bring your bag to another location, or try again on another day.
How big are the bags?
Each bag fits in an 8-to-10 gallon wastebasket and typically holds 60-90 cans or bottles, depending upon their size.
What's the cost of the program?
Each bag costs the PTA $0.60 ($0.20 to purchase, $0.40 to process each redemption), so a bag with 80 cans/bottles ($8) will net the P.E. program $7.40.
