Annual Appeal

Dear Abernethy Families,

It’s that time of year again—the start of our Annual Appeal. From November 3, 2025 to December 1st, 2025, we’re inviting our whole Abernethy community to come together and support the school we all love.

As parents ourselves, we know how much this place means to our kids. Abernethy is where they make friends, discover new passions, and grow into who they’re becoming. And it takes more than just classrooms and textbooks to make that happen—it takes the extra care, resources, and opportunities that this fundraiser makes possible.

This year, we’re hoping to raise $40,000. Every dollar will stay right here at Abernethy to provide:

● Literacy support for kids who need an extra boost

● Books in every classroom

● Field trips and assemblies that make learning exciting

● Improvements to our school grounds where kids play every day

● Help for families in need, so no one is left behind

● And so many other things that make Abernethy special

Every gift matters

Whether it’s $10, $100, or more, your donation shows our kids that their education is worth investing in. And as a little fun incentive, we’ll be drawing a winner each week for a local gift card—so the earlier you give, the more chances you’ll have.

How to Donate

● Online (please note the option to uncheck the 'cover transaction costs' box when donating through BetterWorld). It’s quick, secure, and you can even set up a monthly donation if that works best for your family.

● Cash or Check: Send your gift in the green envelope that came home with your child, or mail it to the office (2421 SE Orange Ave, Portland, OR 97214). Please make checks payable to Abernethy PTA and include your student’s name and grade.

Stretch Your Gift

● Check if your employer offers donation matching—many do!

● Invite grandparents and relatives to contribute; they love supporting our kids too.

● Consider making your gift recurring—small monthly donations add up to big impact.
